Boat Host Roles – English/Japanese/Mandarin/Korean language skills required.
Southern Discoveries is a substantial tourism company operating in the Southern Lakes and Fiordland region. The primary business activities are cruising operations in Milford Sound and on Lake Wakatipu. The company also operates “Go Milford” coach services between Te Anau and Milford, the Discovery Centre and guided kayak tours in Milford, a farm tour operation at Mt Nicholas High Country Station and a number of travel retailing businesses in Queenstown, Te Anau and Milford Sound.
We have these opportunities for the “right people” to join our team in these important customer service roles.
The role requires an ability to work in a team environment of between 2 and 6 staff depending on your roster and your allocated vessel and cruise.
Key tasks for these roles include:
- Food preparation
- Daily cleaning
- Clearing tables
- Interacting with our customers, providing them with information about the flora and fauna of the region
- Cash handling
- Being part of the safety crew of the vessel
Previous experience working in a restaurant/cafe experience is desired, while having a strong work ethic, the ability to work in a team and understand and commit to safe working practices. Able to give basic commentary at times, would be of great advantage. Normal working day depends on roster, but is usually between 8 / 9 hours per day. During peak season there is the requirement at times to work additional hours.
As part of your employment package we will provide subsidised food and lodging (deducted from your fortnightly wages) which includes all utility bills, furnishings for your room, and linen. All rooms have internet connectivity from a WiFi connection.
Positions are available on a seasonal basis starting on the 15th of September, ending at the end of April/mid May 2017.
An ability to live and work in New Zealand is essential you must have a current work visa; all prospective staff will undergo pre-employment drug screening, and will travel to Milford Sound to view the staff facilities, and the working environment.
